As part of our Sustainable Development Project, the organization is working closely with the rural communities from different villages in the Churachandpur district of Manipur. As much as we are focused on building sustainable livelihood, we are also working towards rejuvenating spring water which is the lifeline for most people inhabiting the North Eastern region of the country. The fast-growing climate change, these springs are gradually drying up, thus leading to a scarcity of clean water. To combat this phenomenon, NABARD has launched an innovative and integrated spring shed-based watershed development program in the NER, including Sikkim. The main motive is to revive and rejuvenate springs so as to make water available both for human consumption and agricultural purposes, especially during the off-season. The Center for Community Initiative was selected as a Project Implementing Agency (PIA) to implement projects in two locations. In the meantime, NABARD in collaboration with our organization is implementing a project called Wadi- Tribal Development Fund for 200 farmers in the border villages of India and Myanmar.
