District-Level Observance of the International Day for Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) 2025 was held on December 3 at YMA Hall, Hmuia Veng, through a joint initiative of Centre for Community Initiative (CCI) and the District Social Welfare Office (DSWO), Churachandpur.
The event brought together persons with disabilities, organizations, community members, and supporters to celebrate inclusion, talent, and equal participation. The program featured inspiring performances by The BandAble, a musical group of visually impaired musicians, along with presentations by Little Gems Academy, Mercy Home, students of The Malsawm Initiative (TMI), YMA Lamka Branch, and Hope for the Blind.
The celebration was graced by Pu Thienlaljoy Gante, MCS, District Social Welfare Officer, and Chief Guest Pu Thangboi Gangte, ADC, Churachandpur, who shared encouraging messages on inclusion and empowerment of persons with disabilities.
CCI also extends appreciation to the President of the Churachandpur District Disable Union (CDDU), the Vice President of MHDDU, members who travelled from various hill districts, YMA Lamka Branch, and the 36 Assam Rifles under 27 Sector Headquarters Veng for their valuable support and participation in making the event meaningful and successful.
