Community Libraries Distributed to Relief Centres for Internally Displaced Children

Dec 19, 2024: A meaningful initiative to promote reading habits, literacy, and constructive engagement among internally displaced children (IDPs) was carried out through the distribution of Community Libraries to five relief centres in Lamka.

The distribution program was held at Dorcas Veng Relief Centre and was attended by Pu Paukhanmung Gwite, MPS, Additional SP of Churachandpur, and Pu Kammuanlal, MCS, Deputy Commissioner of Taxes & OSD Relief Centre (Data).

Community Libraries were established at the following relief centres:

1. Dorcas Veng Relief Centre
2. Lanva TD Block Relief Centre
3. KSO Community School Relief Centre
4. Vungzagen Higher Secondary Relief Centre
5. Buallian Relief Centre

The initiative aims to encourage a culture of reading among children living in relief camps by providing access to books and meaningful learning resources. The libraries are intended to support literacy development, create positive reading habits, and offer children a constructive and enriching way to spend their leisure time during displacement.
