In a significant step towards promoting mental well-being and building a mentally resilient Lamka, Project MindLink, a mental health initiative initiated by Centre for Community Initiative, was officially launched today at the Gospel Centenary Hall Auditorium, New Lamka. The project was inaugurated by Rev. K. Kamchinkhup, General Secretary of Evangelical Baptist Convention (EBC).
Supported by Petronet LNG Limited, Project MindLink aims to strengthen mental health awareness, promote early identification of mental health concerns, and improve access to intervention and support services through community engagement and strategic partnerships.
One of the most inspiring moments of the programme was the “Voices of Hope” segment, where Lawmi Khuptong shared a powerful testimony of lived experience with mental health challenges. Her story of resilience, recovery, and hope underscored the importance of open conversations around mental health and the need for supportive families and communities that encourage healing and understanding.
The launch programme witnessed participation from representatives of churches, educational institutions, civil society organisations, community leaders, government departments, social media influencers, and partner agencies, all united by a shared vision of strengthening mental health support systems within the community.
Speaking at the event, Rev. K. Kamchinkhup emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in addressing mental health challenges and fostering a caring and inclusive society.
Organisers expressed heartfelt appreciation to all attendees and stakeholders for their support and solidarity. The initiative marks the beginning of a collaborative effort to break stigma, inspire hope, and create a stronger and more mentally resilient Lamka.
