A training session on Understanding Normal Developmental Milestones was conducted at the Malsawm Ability Resource Centre (MARC), Pearsonmun, Lamka, and facilitated by Dr. Kambiakdik, MBBS, MD (Pediatrics), FNNF Neonatology.
The training aimed to strengthen the capacity of staff and educators in assessing child development across five major developmental domains: Gross Motor, Fine Motor, Language, Cognitive, and Socio-emotional/Behavioural skills.
Participants were introduced to methods for calculating the Developmental Quotient (DQ) and identifying early signs of developmental concerns, including Global Developmental Delay (GDD). The session emphasized the importance of early identification, timely referrals, and appropriate intervention to support children’s developmental needs effectively.
The training equipped staff with practical knowledge and skills to better monitor children’s growth, support individualized care, and promote inclusive and holistic development for all students.
