On the occasion of International Women’s Day 2025, NABARD in collaboration with Centre for Community Initiative (CCI) organized a one-day training program on value addition of locally available fruits and vegetables, including Zongtah and Green Chili, at the SDO Complex, Singngat.
The initiative aimed to empower women by enhancing their skills in food processing, preservation, and small-scale entrepreneurship to improve livelihood opportunities and income generation.
The training was facilitated by Ms. Manngaihkim, Senior Technical Officer at KVK Churachandpur, who shared practical techniques on increasing shelf life, improving marketability, and developing value-added products from locally available produce. The hands-on sessions encouraged participants to explore sustainable livelihood and business opportunities through food-based enterprises.
The program began with an inaugural session attended by Pu Samuel Paubiakmang Ngaihte, District Development Manager (DDM), NABARD Churachandpur, as Chief Guest. In his address, he highlighted the importance of women’s economic empowerment and the role of skill development in promoting self-reliance and sustainable livelihoods.
The training served as an important platform for encouraging entrepreneurship among rural women while strengthening their participation in local economic development initiatives.
